AntiVir® Obtains “Virus Bulletin 100%” Award

Tettnang, April 7, 2005 – AntiVir of the German security specialist H+BEDV Datentechnik GmbH was honored already for the second time this year with the “Virus Bulletin 100%” Award in a successful and extensive comparison test of the operating system Red Hat Linux 9. The testers of Virus Bulletin were especially convinced by the excellent detection rate as well as the easy operation. The award entitles H+BEDV to keep the Virus Bulletin 100% logo on their product packaging as a seal of quality in the future.
"Virus Bulletin" is the most renowned magazine for virus protection and security world-wide. The performance tests for security software as well as the criteria for the awarding of the sought after Virus Bulletin 100% logo constitute the most demanding of its line. The system environment in the current comparison test was Red Hat Linux 9. The installed virus protection programs need to detect the highest degree of different kinds of harmful programs on the Linux server such as “in-the-wild”, macro and polymorphic viruses, “on access” as well as “on demand”. Potential error alerts of the 17 tested antivirus programs were also examined in the examination of clean files. The scanning duration of the hard drive was also compared.
The majority of all tested Linux products by the “Virus Bulletin” use Dazuko for access scanning. Dazuko is an open source data access interface that examines all entering data on Linux and FreeBSD platforms prior to access viruses and malware. The development of this kernel module was initiated by H+BEDV. The company does also actively support the further development. The free availability of the kernel module Dazuko now also enables other security providers to supply their portfolio for the Linux operating systems and derivatives, in order to herewith participate in the current test.
