Avira AntiVir product range compatible with Microsoft Windows Vista
Tettnang, 24 April 2007 - The German security expert Avira offers AntiVir for Windows Vista from now on: with the current release change all Windows desktop products of the virus protection are compatible with Microsoft’s new operating system. In addition, the new versions support x64-BIT-Computing under Microsoft Windows XP and can detect and remove active rootkits.
The entire AntiVir Windows desktop product familiy for private and business users completely integrates into the security concept of Windows Vista and directly communicates with the Windows Vista Security Center (WSC). The application reports if the virus protection, spyware detection and firewall are active or not. In addition, the WSC obtains a report which informs whether the virus protection is up-to-date or not. If required, the individual program components can be activated or updated directly in the WSC. All products furthermore support the user account control concept of Windows Vista.
Moreover, the Avira Premium Security Suite includes a newly developed proactive antispam and antiphishing functionality. The filters and algorithms of the software used for spam and phishing detection can independently classify emails as spam or phishing messages. The user can furthermore “train” the classification criteria in the course of time so that only desired emails such as subscribed newsletters can enter the user’s inbox. The email client can move or delete nasty spam and phishing emails to a separate folder.
The Vista versions of Avira AntiVir Personal Edition Classic and Premium, the Avira Premium Security Suite and the Avira AntiVir Workstation Windows can be obtained from Avira, from its sales partners and the specialized trade.
