Avira AntiVir Mobile Pocket PC examines and filters unknown SMS senders
Tettnang, 6 December 2007 – Avira AntiVir Mobile virus protection for Pocket PCs now supports Microsoft Windows Mobile 6. The leading German software provider has new features which include: Avira AntiVir Mobile Pocket PC can now examine and filter incoming SMS messages for known as well as unknown senders. Undesired SMS messages can be blocked and connections to premium telephone numbers can be prevented.
Incoming SMS messages are examined for unknown senders, by comparing the senders telephone number with the address book and the optional white list. If there is no match, the SMS can be either blocked or authorized, depending on the security settings selected. The option selected can then be saved so that the same rule will apply to all future messages received from that sender. If “block” is selected the sender is automatically added to the blacklist and not displayed anymore.
The installation of Avira’s mobile virus protection is easy: during the setup, the software automatically detects the operating system’s version of the device and installs the product depending on the relevant operating system. A new option offers the user the option to choose an update server in the configuration file, for example, if software updates should be made from a company server or directly from Avira.
