Trojan disguises as a contract amendment
Fri, 23 May 2008
Mass email in circulation which pretends to be a contract attachment but is really a Trojan.
Tettnang, 23 May 2008 – Overnight an email has been sent to many thousands of users, which hides the following threat inside. The email attracts attention using an amended contract attachment with the name "VERTRAG.RAR". However, this archive does not contain a Word document, but a Trojan with the file name "VERTRAG.EXE". The email has different subject headings such as "Abbuchungsvertrag", "Mietvertrag" or "Konto eröffnet" and the German email text is as follows:
Avira always warns its users not to open unrequested file attachments in emails or ones that come from unknown senders. The Trojan is detected as "TR/Spy.Buzus.gyj" with the current VDF. Please see our virus description for more information.
