First worm reaches MySpace website
Thu, 07 December 2006
Tettnang, 7 December 2006 – The security of MySpace stands in jeopardy due to a modified Quicktime movie file. At the moment, anonyms try to spy out the user names and the passwords of the online community with the help of the Javascript support from Apple’s Quicktime-Player.
The worm is activated the moment the innocent user clicks on the video stream. In this manner, the worm reaches user’s personal MySpace profile and infects it by inserting a link which leads to a fake MySpace website. Consequently, the fake website memorizes the entered data like the user name and the password so that the attackers can misuse them for their own purposes. Avira AntiVir already detected the worm "JS/QSpace.A" through its current version.
